Stanley

Item #42  Stanley 110 block plane Nickel lever cap. Nice little plane.  Price  $20 US

Item # 13 Stanley No 5 plane.  Good condition. This is a good solid model and is actually heavier than some of the 605 Bed Rock's I have had .   Made in Canada . No chips or cracks to metal or rosewood knob and tote.  Price  $70 US

Item # 14  Stanley No 6 plane.  Good condition. Rosewood knob and tote. The low knob is good.  Tote has been cracked and repaired. No rust, chips or cracks in the metal parts. I believe this to be a type 6A manufactured in 1891-1892  Has Stanley Tool and Level Company on the blade and No 6 on the Toe  Price  $90 US

Item # 163 Stanley No 7C plane.  Good condition.  Low rosewood knob and graceful tote. Has two patd. date on body Mar. 25 02 and Aug - 19 02.  The original blade is type Q and has the Ap'l 19 92 patd. date.  I believe this plane to be a type 9.  The corrugations are well defined. Price $95 US Includes shipping to US and Canada like all my pricing.

Item # 71  Stanley 41 part.   Main frame casting only.  Has been re-plated.  Only flaw is a tight crack where the rivet for the wooden handle passes through.

Item # 117 Stanley 65 plane.  This very popular knuckle joint low angle block plane is in very good condition.  Nickel on the lever cap is near perfect.  The japanning is also near perfect.  The plane has had some rust in the past which was cleaned off before I bought it. It has very light pitting on both sides and the bottom, which would be easy to remove.  Notched logo on cutter.   Price $115 US

Item # 138  Stanley 65 plane.  This plane is mint condition and has the original box. One corner of the box is split but the rest is in good shape and the label is perfect.  Notched logo on cutter.  It has been previously sharpened but other than that looks to be unused.. A true collectors piece Price $205 US

Item # 137  Stanley 92 Cabinet Maker's rabbet plane  This nice little plane has about 85% of the nickel remaining and overall is in great shape and has lots of blade left. Notched logo on front disk.  Price $255 US.

Item # 86    Stanley 98 & 99 Side Rabbet Planes.  Condition excellent.    Nickel 90%. Rosewood knobs perfect.  Just super little planes and very sharp!  Price   $330 US for the pair.

Item # 68    Stanley 140 Rabbet and block plane.  Condition good.   Nickel on lever cap 60%.  Later model. Side plate is not quite flat but still works OK.. No cracks to metal parts.  Rosewood knob in good shape.  Original milled screws secure the removable side plate.   Price   $155 US

Item # 191 Stanley 100 Squirrel tail block plane.  This one like many has no markings.  It is however identical to others I have and I expect that the cutter may be an old time jobber replacement.  Jappaning is 80% + and it has no damage.   Price of $60 US includes shipping in US and Canada.

Item # 189 Stanley 100 1/2 Squirrel tail block plane.  This plane curved in both directions is such a great hollowing tool.  I use mine on everything from chair seats to instruments.  Has the red lever cap.  Both useful and rare.  Price $175 US  Includes shipping and insurance.

Item # 192 Stanley 48 Tongue and groove plane.   A little tarnished and dull but still a great user.  The rosewood knob is in good condition and it has two cutters although one really belongs in a Stanley 45.  Will clean up a lot.  Priced at $75 US including shipping.

Stanley Bedrock

Item # 72   Stanley Bedrock 605.  Condition  good.   Flat top sides.  Type 9. Has orange lever cap and SW cutter. Some light pitting on sides.  A great user.     Price   $220 US

Sargent

Miscellaneous planes.

Item # 113    Slater I believe, although there are no markings that I can see. Has an ebony wedge which has several small chips. 1 1/16" bull nose plane, 4" long.  Some very minor toolbox dings in the metal.  Price $145 US  shipped

Scrapers and beading tools.

Item # 20 Stanley 81 Scraper. Good condition. Some wear on the nickel plated handles.  Rosewood sole shows use but is in good shape. Replacement blade I believe.  Price  $65.00 US

Item # 160   Snell & Atherton rebating tool. Primarily used in the shoemaking trade, it's in excellent condition having the adjustable throat and the brass edge guide.  This one has the curved cutter adjustable up to 5/8 inch wide in the 'carriage makers style'.  Designed for leather but also works on wood.  Price $80 US shipped

Item # 206 Stanley 66 beader  This beader comes with one cutter and just the curved fence.  It is in good condition though and a great user or collectable.  The nickel is a little worn on the handle but otherwise it is great.              Price $ 100 US  includes shipping in N.America

Spokeshaves

Item # 102      Stanley 51 SpokeshaveExcellent condition 90% shinny japanning.  B casting.  Notched logo. Price $55 US

Item # 187 Stanley 67 Spokeshave In very good condition. Rosewood handles are great.  One of the  ferrules does have a fine crack.  Cutter has the arched trademark.  This one has the flat bottom.  Price  $88 US Includes shipping in N.America.

Item # 180 Coburn 'Snell & Atherton like' spokeshave. EOD 8 size.  This concave shave is like  the S&A model having about a 3/4" radius curve to the blade.  In many ways it is better than the S&A in that the throat is adjustable both up and down and in and out which allows better control of the cut.  Also the wearing parts are much harder than other brands and still retain the high polish of hardened steel. The F.W.Coburn company was only in business from 1856 to 1920 and this shave was patented and made around 1874.  Price $90 includes shipping in N.America

Item # 175 Cincinnati spokeshave   Made by the Cicinnati Tool Co. with Hargraves on the cutter which is correct and makes it sought after by collectors.  This model is all iron and has maybe 50% japanning left.  The picture shows some staining on the underside which I have not polished off.  There is no pitting at all.  A super example of a rare spokeshave. Price $80 US shipped

Item # 181 Cincinnati # 390 Metal spokeshave. An early spokeshave from this company. Curved bottom for inside curved work.  A very solid and durable all metal spokeshave. Not the original cutter.   Price $65 US Shipped to Canada and US.

Item # 180 Snell & Atherton (type) spokeshave. OED 8. This super little shave has a cutter radius of approximately 3/4 inch.  It is in wonderful condition having a sharp but almost full blade.  The overall appearance is very good to excellent with some tarnishing but no rust at all.  It has no makers name on it, simply the number 8.  Price $95 US  shipped.

Item # 188 Stanley No 55 Spokeshave.  A very nice piece, this comes to me from a collection.  For some reason it has received a clear coating of varnish.  It shouldn't be too hard to remove or you could varnish the rest of your tools to match...............  Price $85 US shipped .

Item # 199 Gullwing spokeshave.  A nice nickel plated gullwing spokeshave.  This one has no makers name, just the letters F M stamped on the wedge.  The wedge and cutter do have some hammer marks. The handles as can be seen have been painted red.  Price $ 55 US shipped.

Item # 205 Stanley 63 Spokeshave.
This is the English Stanley concave shave, designed for internal curves.  Like new, it still has the paper decal intact.  Never been honed
Price $65 US shipped free in N.America

Item # 202 Stanley UK No 151 spokeshave.

Not my personal favorite to use, but oh well!  This shave is in reasonable condition although the lever cap and cutter are rusty, jappaning is probably 90% and it does bear the paper Stanley Made in England label.  I don't think it has ever been honed.  Price $33 US includes shipping in N. America

Item # 210  Woods Mfg. Co No 2 Combination spokeshave. This extremely rare spokeshave was patd. applied for in 1899 or 1900 but never was patented for some reason, although the design is unique and well thought out.  This is the first Woods No 2  that I have owned and I find it very comfortable to use,  The curved and straight cutters are back to back so you just roll it in your hands to switch between them.  The Woods Mfg. Co. operated in some form from 1876 to 1967, but this shave would have been made in the early 1900's.  Price $110 US includes shipping in N. America

Item #211  Stanley No 68 rabbeting spokeshave.  This spokeshave is in 'well used' condition.  From the sweetheart era, it has no chips or cracks.  The blade is worn down but there is still a lifetimes left to use. This rare shave is priced at $100.00 and shipped free in N. America

Sold Item #212  Stanley No 62 Two way spokeshave   This spokeshave is in 'user' condition.  Jappaning is at around 25%.  It has the Patd date of April 1876 stamped on it and the proper cutters which are good and long.  On the back side of one of the throat openings there is a tiny chip which doesn't affect anything but I need to mention it.  Priced accordingly at Sold US which includes shipping in N.America.

Item #220 Stanley No 53 spokeshave.  A very nice sweetheart era shave in very good condition.  Lots of cutter and both springs are present. Jappaning is roughly 80% and the throat adjusting screw is shinny.  I really like this item, it's priced at $70 US which includes shipping in N.America

Item # 168 Stearns flexible spokeshave.
This spokeshave is in good condition save for the lack of finish which appears to have been worn off by use. It came to me with the handgrips shiny and the cutter sharp. This model is called the No 13  patented in 1900 and was the only patented spokeshave that E.C. Stearns made.   There is no rust anywhere on this tool and the flexible sole is smooth and has a blued appearance. I like this one as it has thumbscrews where the adjustments are made which beats those brass slotted screws that some had.  Priced at $175.00 US which includes postage in N.America

Item 222 Snell & Atherton OED 6.  Solid but rusty overall.  Cutter is full and hardly sharpened.  Priced at $45 US which includes postage in N.America

Item 223 Snell & Atherton OED 10.  Solid but rusty overall.  A rarer S&A curve  Price $45 US which includes postage in N.America

Measuring and layout tools

Item # 176  Stanley No2 Trammel points.  These trammels are in excellent condition and still have the factory points which have never been sharpened. The tip of one is slightly bent.  Both keepers are present and the threads on the knobs and points are free and  as new.  Like most of the sets I have had, these are unmarked and come with the 12" walnut beam if you wish.   Price $80 US

Item # 196 Stanley No 3 Trammel points. Once again an unmarked set but in very good condition.  Overall length is about 6" and both keepers are present.  These are used and do have some pier grip marks on the steel points but the brass has been marked only by paint by a previous owner.  Priced at $100 US including postage and insurance in N. America.

Item # 208 Stanley No 63A rule.  This nice clean rule is from the sweetheart era and in nice condition with all three pins intact!  Price $45 US includes postage in N.America.

Item # 209 Stanley No 89 rule.  A beautiful example of this rare brass bound rule.  It is marked Stanley Rule and Level Co New Britain Conn. and No 89 in light pressing.  All hinges work smoothly and the pin is intact.  The brass is tarnished in places but if desired will clean up nicely.  The boxwood is lightly stained in places but the markings are clear.  The inside markings are very intricate.  Previously I have only seen German silver bindings on No 89's but I know that Stanley did make them with brass also so I am guessing that the brass ones may have been less popular in their day, but harder to find now.  Price $210.00 includes postage in N.America

Wrenches

Item # 99   W & B, USA   Monkey wrench 15 inches long in good condition.    Price $25 US     ** Sorry but shipping is extra on this item**

Item # 98    Gerrard USA    Monkey wrench 10 inches long with wooden handle.  Condition good.  Price $30 US   **Sorry but shipping is extra on this item**

Edge tools.

Item # 221 Record Carving Set.   A very nice set of carving chisels all in a nice wooden storage box.  I have sharpened these and used them.  I find the ash handles particularly easy to hold and control the cuts with and less hard on my hands than some of the chisel style ones.  The steel in these is good and holds an edge very well. Beautiful finish overall.  Price $120 US includes postage in N.America.

Miscellaneous

Item # 97  Hand vise    No manufacturers name on it that I can find but it's in great shape and very handy to have.  Aluminum body and a nice wooden handle.  Price  $55 US

Item # 113X   Preston catalog 1909 reprint.  A very interesting read.  Preston made a wide selection of woodworking tools.  Price $42 US

Item # 145  No name hollow auger.  All it has on it is a patd. date of Mar. 5 78.  I like this one and have one I use myself.  It is infinitely variable from 5/16 up to 1 1/4 inch.  It's dirty and needs to be sharpened.  Price $65 US

Item # 146 Stearns spoke pointer  This is another nice smaller spoke pointer which will go from about 3/8 to 2 inch.  Sold

Item # 147  Stearns hollow auger.  This item is in good shape.  The depth stop is missing but everything else is fine.  Price $68 US

Item # 182 Cincinnati C-clamp.  Another great and hard to find item for you Hargraves collectors.  Marked with the letter H in a circle and 1 1/4 in. No. 566, this is a Cincinnati Tool Co. C-clamp.  This nice little clamp is the first of it's kind that I have ever had.  Price $35 US shipped to Canada or US.

Item # 224  Gerstner 042 tool chest  This beautiful 1976 tool chest was purchased for and used to store fly tying materials.  Needless to say, the interior is like brand new, as is the exterior.  This one is made of straight grained red oak, and could have just come out of the factory.  This model has 10 drawers.  I was thinking of putting my own fly tying feathers and whatnot into it but I don't think it will be around long enough.  Everything on it works perfectly and the only negative is the lack of a key.  The key will cost you $10 from Gerstner.  The tool chest will cost you $745 US from me, shipping and insurance included within North America.

I keep most of the above planes and other tools, sharp and use most of them once in a while when the mood strikes, or my regular users need sharpening!  You can never have enough planes!

I use the "scary sharp' sand paper method of sharpening by the way. It basically consists of gluing several grits of wet or dry paper to a scrap piece of plate glass which I use instead of oil or water stones. No mess, no fuss, fast and cheap. When the sand paper wears out, just peal it off and replace it with fresh.  I start with 320 grit then go to 600 and finally finish using 2000.
